VICKSBERG Penetrometer (Proving Ring Type).
It is a portable unit used for measuring the moisture content of a
number of materials including soils, aggregates, dust and powders (and
liquids). Moisture measurements are done by mixing a weighed sample of
the material with a calcium carbide reagent in the sealed pressure
vessel.
